No longer scrubbing much
but still clinging to us
from rude introductions
for wildings within our gut
becoming covered
in goose bumps minus disgust

separately left undiscovered
and uncut upon sniffing each other
over millennia as sensing vestiges
of prior predators smelled
since the first microbial cells

while distracting ourselves
from older preferences
obsessively repeating ourselves
all in self defense
as our populations grow denser
in essence with unintended side effects

yet seen as very necessary
warily taken out of context
segments fused together
while lacking
in terminal appendages
often quite complexly
apparent without dissection

seen present in many insects
of sufficient interest
to warrant brief mention
at the lateral edges
of ordinarily not red

likened to chemical receptors
suitable for development
within our outer shells
to large extents
immediately
thereafter
subspecies
in italics...
