still clinging to their wings

over lengthening odysseys 

yet being permitted to bear arms
all in avoidance of re-conquest
modeled on heavenly bodies
launched philosophically 
with little regard for theology

answering to the naïve 
couched in pronouncements
via narrowing alleys 
of electoral grandeur...
